Jharkhand
The state most of India’s hand-mined mica comes out of.
Jharkhand holds the largest share of India’s mica belt, running through Koderma, Giridih and Hazaribagh. Large-scale mica mining here has been illegal since the Forest Conservation Act of 1980, so extraction continues as artisanal scrap collection outside any regulatory framework.
